Microneedling Benefits

Microneedling

Microneedling or skin needling uses a sterile roller pen with fine and sharp needles to puncture your skin. The first step involves disinfecting the skin, followed by the application of a topical anesthetic for 60 minutes. It is done on people with acne scars with a derma roller or a dermapen moving backward and forward in different directions. The skin bleeds for a short amount of time and develops multiple micro bruises which help in the generation of growth factors and collagen production. This treatment is suitable for most skin types.

Microneedling is an umbrella term used to describe microneedles piercing the skin with the end goal of collagen production. Collagen loss is what causes depressions and pits post acne. Replenishment of collagen is the most effective and fastest way to treat acne scars permanently.

If your skin is more thick, resilient and forgiving, more advanced and aggressive forms of microneedling will work for you. However, for more sensitive and thin skin, one should opt for vampire treatment or dermafusion before embarking on other forms of treatment.
